Camp Ray of Hope was founding in 1995 to give grieving individuals and families a place to come together and learn new ways to cope with their loss, meet others with similar circumstances and to remember their loved ones. This fun, family oriented weekend will take place at the Pine Tree Camp in Rome, Maine from Friday, September 23 to Sunday, September 25.
A weekend retreat held annually for those who have lost someone they love.
Children write stories about their loved ones, draw pictures and participate in arts and crafts. They will also engage in camp-related outdoor activities. Our goals involve helping the develop healthy outlets for anger, sadness and fear, as well as self-care techniques to help them work through their loss and the complicated questions they may be faced with. Child care will be available on-site for infants and toddlers.
Adults will also spend time engaging in family activities with the children, as well as group settings with other adults.
Families and individuals throughout Maine who have lost a loved one to a terminal illness or sudden death are welcome to join us. Individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Registration is required.
